REESE
REESE AND HIS FIRST MONTH WITH US
The video is longer, I know. Even so, this is just a very small part of what we are working on together. Exercise itself is just a piece of our day, sometimes I can’t make it at all, I don’t push it.
What is really important when you have a puppy?
– A relationship together – so I reward any attention offered towards me (at home or out), I focus on him as much as possible and am always there if he needs help in any situation,
– motivation – I find out what he likes, how and when to use the reward,
– socialisation – getting to know all sorts of things, people, animals, sounds, environment – so far he’s absolutely awesome! He is curious but not afraid of anything, he takes everything as a given. We are TOGETHER in the whole process!
– Separation – from day one he is getting used to not always being with someone (or other dogs). He sleeps alone at night, during the day I put him in his playpen where he plays and rests alone.
– Car – driving and waiting in the box in the car is absolutely no problem! Thanks for that!
– Name response – slowly building up, for now I’m mainly using a nickname that doesn’t have such a firm criteria.
– Manipulation, putting on jacket, collar, harness, clipping leash, trimming claws – again this is very easy for us, no problem with anything! But that doesn’t mean I don’t reward and notice changes in behaviour so that I can catch them early if necessary.
– Following my human – he follows me beautifully, both indoors and out,
– walking on the lead – very little so far, I encourage no pulling, we are learning the release ritual.
– changing objects – here he has a big black dot, because he really eats everything and all the time. So we are learning to swap things, to deal with the situation calmly – to prevent such situations.
For now he is a reward puppy, we have a lot of fun with him, he can cuddle, but also get pretty angry (yes, I have two bitten pants already), he communicates very well with the boys at home, I am just happy for him!🥰
