Hungarian Open 2022
TRAY – HUNGARIAN OPEN
At the end of February we went to Hungary for another big international competition.
The very first run went great, so we went from 5th place straight to the final and the next qualifying runs we had so called peace and quiet. Well, it was definitely relaxing – check out the video. I used some of the runs to fix the contacts, some of the runs Tray showed me how he can surprise me right at the start and then I have to improvise the whole run.
And the finale? How did the Pony handle his first grand finale?
Amazing for me! We finished in an incredible time, and were only a mistake on the dogwalk away from 4th place.
He showed me the whole competition that he was just going to make it in the end! That even though no one believed us from the start, that everyone just laughed at me for being huge (no, I don’t take it personally), they asked me if I wanted to give up and get something more competitive . This is definitely not the way to go for me! You have to fight! It’s terribly hard, you often want to give up, but it pays off in the end! I never had such a good feeling about my runs because Tray was so perceptive, and really tried hard. The times he was putting up were unreal! He was getting within half a second of the fastest, and I never dreamed of that! But with speed comes error rate, so that’s what we need to focus on now.
I’m looking forward to next year!
