BCC 2018 – Slovakia
Our first Border collie classic. An amazing competition in hot weather, and certainly not ideal conditions.
This year the BCC was held in Slovakia, so we and my friend decided that we were really going. There was not much preparation – we had everything done from the Moravia Open.
Definitely, but I can not write “everything went great, super organisation, fine surface”. It simply was not like that. The organisation was confused many times, the place where was the campsite was not suitable for camping, lacking enough showers (just 2 showers for 600 competitors), the restaurant also will not get the Michellin star, but we made everything, we are not of sugar 🙂
There were two courses in the open hall, which was great in the heat, but the problem was that the courses were completely stuffed, the start and the finish were in one place for both, so it was that the dogs started back to themselves (there was about 1m in between them) and could have flown straight into the finish into each other. Fortunately, in addition to one incident when the dog went on to the second course, nothing happened. The surface in the hall was 70% brilliant, hard, drenched … and then suddenly you stepped into 20 cm of deep sand. I absolutely understand that in 40 degrees the surface can not be maintained, but I did not expect it from such a competition. This was the answer to both the bars and the times: / The last course was outside, it was a pity to talk about it, because it broke terribly, fortunately we ran only once.
Overall, on one side, I was happy because one of our open run managed to be beautiful in a great time. We ended in 15th place (maybe – the results were different on the web and in the print results). You can find the video of this run on Instagram. Otherwise, we struggled both with the surface and with the wound that Chase had unfortunately created in the first run, but the limping started only after the next 10 days 🙁 Unfortunately the wall was too tight and the result was only the upper light elements fell down, the rest unfortunately stayed … how did it happen after I found on one of the few photos from a professional photographer (see below) .The result was a bruised shoulder :(.
Next year BCC takes place in Germany, the application is sent, so we’ll see how it all goes 🙂
